We are off to a busy learning year in fourth grade! We started off the year reviewing what each letter of the word "R.O.C.K.S" represented. Then the students worked together in groups to create one of a kind words literally using rocks for the first letter. My goal is to print these fun pictures and post them in the room along with pictures of each group who created them. Be sure to check them out at our open house.
We fourth graders are learning about the human body in science class. What better way than to try to count our own bones by feeling them through our skin. In the first picture a group is counting the number of bones which included the upper, lower, ankle, and toe bones. The second group was busy counting bones found in the torso. We tried to count our arm, and skull bones, too.
Groups worked cooperatively to count the actual number of bones after analyzing posters of the torso, leg, arm and skull. The students completed their chart and calculated the total number of bones. I invite you to ask your child the answer.
In science class we spent some time investigating models such as the brain, skull, pelvic, and hand. We also looked at skeletons of a bat, a fish, and a poinsonous snake. We thought these were pretty cool.
The fourth graders were busy working within their group deciding how to visually display examples of creation gifted to us by God. The students formed a plan and followed through with wonderful examples and creative displays of the pictures. They will be on display during our Open House.
